I’m a Kickstarter backer. When will I get my unit?
We conservatively project to have all Kickstarter units shipped by mid of March 2016.
But we also want to have it certified by UL. We have been told it can be made within 2 months but could also last 4 months. We will ask you supporters after the campaign if you want your model without the certification or with it. If with the certification, it might take a bit longer which is unfortunately not something we can influence in your favor.
Note, that we already have a “prototype” in heavy, professional use in a popular restaurant and it runs perfectly. Also, the majority of gas grill do not have a certification like this since the technique.
Does the grill have a safety certification?
Our prototypes are almost ready to get checked by a well known certification company like UL. Right after our successful crowd funding campaign we will apply for the expensive certification process. We were told that the process could take up to 4 months. But we want to receive the certification to be known as a reliable, trustworthy and most of it all a safe compony.
Is the grill for indoor use or just outdoor use?
The grill can only be certified for outdoor use.
Is the grill dangerous due to this high temperature?
No. The grill reaches temperature as high as 1,700 °F but if you operate it as described it is not dangerous. Do not get too close to the front while it runs. The body is double walled and therefore the inner walls absorb much of the heat. You may not touch it during operation and shortly after switching off the gas. But after some minutes of cooling down –also depending on environment’s temperature- you may touch it lightly.
Can I regulate the temperature?
Yes. You can regulate the temperature at the safety valve. Also due to the multiple cooking levels you can regulate it. The higher the food is the hotter it gets.
What else besides steaks can I cook in the grill?
Of course the grill is best for steak but you can also cook a whole dish with it, e.g. see the video of Chef Bouchard at his restaurant. But also seafood, vegetables, hamburger, hot dogs and desserts like Crème Brule is fantastic for this grill. Very soon you will get a feeling of the grill’s capabilities and create your favorite dishes.
How do I clean the grill?
The SteakMeister is an innovative grill where all pieces that get dirty and greasy can be put into the dishwasher. Obviously the removable interior of the grill will not look like new after the dishwasher but it will certainly be free of grease. The grill works with temperatures of 1,500 °F or even higher, therefore some food’s juice just burns into the steel.
How can I tell you if I want a Propane or Natural Gas version of the grill?
Right after the campaign we will contact all beloved supporters and will ask them which version they want. Accordingly we will manufacture them.
How heavy is the grill and can I transport it?
The grill’s weight is just about 30 lbs. and therefore easy to carry. Please only carry it while the body is cold and certainly not, when it is operating.
